Indian Creek Campground
Bureau of Land Management, Carson City Field Office

Click to Locate Indian Creek on an Area MapIndian Creek campground is located at Indian Creek Reservoir inside the Bureau of Land Management's Indian Creek Recreation Area, approximately 10 miles northeast of Markleeville.  Access is completely paved from SR 89.

This campground has nice facilities in the transition zone between forest and high desert.  Campsites are located in fairly dense forest of Ponderosa/Jeffrey pine and the squattier desert piñon pine.  The entrance area sites are little less shady but have good lake access (these sites are for tents only).  Sites in the rear loop are shadier and allow RV's (but have limited to no lake access).

I'm typically not a fan of BLM facilities, but this by far is their shining gem.  It's just a good well-rounded campground.  There is fishing in the lake.  A few hikes in this rec area.  Also, Grover Hot Springs State Park is just west of Markleeville.  Reviewed 05/2000.  Updated information provided by Steve Hill 08/2005.
