Grandview campground is located high up in the White Mountains east of Bishop near the entrance to the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest.  Access is completely paved to the campground, but the road is very twisty and narrow in places.  Trailers are not recommended.

Sites are not paved and are scattered around a large open area.  Most sites are fairly private in a moderate to dense forest of piñon pines and junipers.  Facilities are well maintained and there is a campground amphitheater for campfire programs.  A few sites are elevated and have a filtered view west to the Sierras.  The first site on the left has a spectacular panoramic view east to the arid mountains of Nevada.  When reviewed, this site was full of astronomers taking advantage of the clear high mountain air, cloudless skies and absence of city lights.  A couple miles farther up the road you enter the Schulman Grove of the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest.  There is a visitor center there and some hiking trails, one leads you past the oldest living thing known on the planet.  Reviewed 06/2000.
