The Roxie Peconom campground is located a few miles east of Fredonyer Pass off Highway 36 down a forest spur road.  

This is a different setup than your "typical" National Forest camp.  You pull up to a dirt parking area and you park.  Then walk into the campsites.  They are scattered among the pines between the parking area and the creek.  Some spots are right next to the parking, so your car is only feet away, just like in a normal camp. But the better sites are by the creek, a short walk (which some will refuse to do).  There is a hand pump for water.   When reviewed it spewed rusty water.  Maybe if I continued to pump, it would have cleared up, but I didn't try.  I always take water for these reasons.  

There aren't any RV sites (RV's could park in the parking lot).  There is one central bathroom.   Very clean, but dark (inside is painted black, silly with the only light panes facing north).  Reviewed 09/1998, 08/2005.
