Silver Bowl Campground
Lassen National
Forest - Almanor Ranger District

The Silver Bowl camp is located on the east edge of the
Caribou Wilderness near Silver Lake 30 miles northwest of
Susanville and 30 miles north of Lake Almanor. Access is
down a fair dirt road (Silver Lake Road) from paved County
Road A21. This road is passable to most passenger cars,
but special care needs to be taken around rocks.
Silver
Bowl is located above the north shore of Silver Lake.
Like Rocky Knoll it is not directly on the lake, but there is
a day use area with picnic facilities directly on the lake,
across the road. This side of Silver Lake has a lot of
summer homes and cabins, but few campers/picnickers.
The
campground is one loop along the access road. Sites are
pretty well spaced out from each other for decent
privacy. This campground is a little drier than Rocky
Knoll and the forest less dense. Given that it's not as
pretty and the access a little more remote (and not well
signed) it has a lot less visitors than Rocky Knoll. You
may have the camp to yourself, but I bet holidays could be
pretty busy. Reviewed 06/2001.
