Soup Springs Campground
Modoc National Forest - Warner Mountain Ranger District

The Soup Springs camp is located at the base of the Warner Range at the edge of the South Warner Wilderness near the ranch community of Jess Valley.  The nearest services are available in the small community of Likely, approximately 30 minutes away.

Soup Springs is popular with backpackers and pack horse trippers heading into the South Warner Wilderness.  In fact, there is a significant horse corral/pack station located at this campground.

If I had to describe the campground proper in one word, it'd be green.  It's in dense forest next to a vibrant green meadow.  At least it was really green when I visited it in May.  But what isn't green in May?  The vividness may wane as the dry summer goes on.

It's a simple camp set up in one loop.  Access roads and camp road are gravel.  A trail leads out of camp into the South Warner Wilderness.  This place is pretty remote, but there are people who come out here.  Crowding is not a significant issue though.  Reviewed 05/1997.
