Chris Flat is located in the Walker River Canyon between the communities of Walker and Bridgeport off US Highway 395.

Chris Flat campground is located right beside the West Fork of the Walker River, but unfortunately it is also right beside the busy US 395, also.  The campground is fully paved with each site backing up to the river, or to the highway.  Most of the sites are in the open with there being only a moderate amount of shade.  A few sites in the back of the long loop have a fair amount of shade.  If you are looking for a shady respite, you will need to visit the Bootleg campground a few miles north.

Given the small size of Chris Flat, in a highly desirable location not too far from Nevada's urban centers and easy highway access, you can bank on having neighbors when camping here.  In fact, most weekends in summer, the camp will fill up early...on Fridays or early on Saturdays.  However, there are nicer campgrounds at Sonora Bridge, Obsidian and Leavitt Meadows if that should happen.

Fishing can be very excellent for trout in the Walker River.  You will see many people here fly fishing, as the Walker is one of the better fly fishing bodies of water in this area.  Visited 08/98, 10/06.
