Click to Locate Devil's Postpile on an Area MapThe Devil's Postpile camp is located on the San Joaquin River in the Red's Meadows/Devil's Postpile Recreation Area.

Showers are available at the Red's Meadow Camp (approx. 1 mile south on Minaret Road).  You can take the shuttle there.  Showers are free (donations encouraged).  Facilities are rustic, but the water is heated by natural hot springs.  Located just south of Red's Meadow is Red's Meadow Resort featuring a Store, Diner, Cabins and Horseback Riding.  Reviewed JUL03.

NOTE:  Red's Meadow/Devil's Postpile Mandatory Shuttle.  Visitors who are not camping are required to take the Shuttle Bus from Mammoth Mountain Ski Area.  Visitors that are camping in the Devil's Postpile camp can proceed over Minaret Summit without taking the shuttle, but are required to pay a $7/person access fee, maximum $20 per car.  After paying this fee, you are free to use the shuttles within the Red's Meadow/Devil's Postpile Area.  Shuttles run from 7AM - 7:30 PM.  You can avoid the Mandatory Shuttle by crossing over Minaret Summit before 7AM or after 7:30 PM.  However, you will have to pay your fee on the way out (should you leave between 7AM - 7:30 PM).  Day Visitors, Hikers and Backpackers are required to take the shuttle.  If you do not secure a camp site, you may be fined.
