French
Camp has 86 sites, and with its location only a
quarter mile from U. S. 395, French Camp is
perfect for people that want to explore outside
of Rock Creek Canyon. In addition, French
Camp’s elevation is only 7,100 feet so
it’s much warmer than some of the
campgrounds located higher up the canyon. The
campground is in a piñon-juniper forest and is
quite dry. Still, Rock Creek flows through the
western part of the campground and fishing can be
good here. Another plus to French Camp is its
close proximity to Tom’s Place’s store
and restaurant. Some sites in French Camp are
