Laufman Campground
Plumas National Forest - Beckwourth Ranger District

Click to Locate Laufman on an Area Map

Laufman campground is located in East Canyon above the Laufman Ranger Station off County Road 336 approximately 4 miles above Milford/US 395.  The road is paved except for the last mile.  It is passable to most passenger cars, but some care needs to be taken with lower clearance vehicles in the campground.  The road is not passable to cars above the campground.

The campsites are set up in a simple loop that parallels the road.  Sites on the west side are well shaded with pines and a few aspen and climb up a steep hillside.  Sites on the east side are in a lush meadow with tall grass and wildflowers (in season) with a few shade trees.  The campground is quite lush for the surrounding terrain.  I was quite surprised.

The campground is very clean, probably from little use.  This is the place to go to get away from the crowds.  It may be the least used campground within 100 miles of Reno.  I will be coming back.  Reviewed 06/01.
