Davies
Creek Campground
Tahoe National Forest -
Truckee Ranger District
Davies Creek is the nicest little campground in the
Boca/Stampede area, and is a great overflow camp.
It is not located on the lake, but is about 1/2 mile from an
arm on Stampede's northern shore. The entrance is
located about 1/2 mile after the pavement ends.
This is my
selection
because the camp is quiet, away from the crowds, pretty and
clean. The camp is set up in one row along a dirt access
road. Sites on one
side are fairly shaded overlooking a meadow and creek (which
feeds into the reservoir), the sites on the other side are
better shaded and a little higher. There is one vault
toilet at the back.
A couple of miles north is a road to
the top of Babbitt Peak with a lookout tower. Expansive
views of the Northern Sierra and east into arid parts of
Nevada. Reviewed 04/2000, 07/2002.
