Click to Locate Toquima Caves on an Area MapToquima Caves is located at Pete's Summit in the Toquima Range.  Only 1/4 mile from the campground down an easy hike trail is Toquima Cave, a petroglyphic landmark.  Toquima Cave is an interesting site to see if you are in the area, but I would not consider it a destination.

The campground is well forested with piñon pines.  Most of these pines just barely reach 20 feet tall, leaving only moderate shade in the midday, but shade is quite good in the mornings and evenings.

There are 6 sites, but only 2 have picnic tables.  One of the picnic tables is light enough to be moved to another site if your chosen site does not have a table, but the other is pretty darn heavy.  The front site has a fire pit with a grill, the rest have fire rings.  There is only one unisex vault toilet (very clean), in the center of the loop.

Bring plenty of water with you.  Though forested, the area is pretty dry and it's a 20 mile drive to a perennial creek.  Reviewed 07/1998, 07/2001.
