Horsethief Gulch Campground
Nevada State Parks - Spring Valley State Park

Click to Locate Horsethief Gulch on an Area MapThis campground is right inside the entrance to Spring Valley State Park at the Eagle Valley Dam.  Spring Valley is very popular with fishermen.  A floating dock heads into the lake and is typically full with people fishing.

Campsites are located across the road from the lake in a dense piñon/juniper forested canyon in one big loop.  Each campsite has it's own water spigot (no water in winter), picnic table with a shade verandah, fire pit and barbecue grill.  The restroom facilities are located centrally in the loop (But there should be more facilities for a camp this size).  The camp provides free firewood.  No reservations are accepted, but 2 other camps (less popular) are within 2 miles when full.

The only hike in the park is the Old Stone Cabin Trail, located 2 miles north.  It heads into the woodlands for 3 miles and ends up at the Ranch Campground.  The Eagle Valley Resort is a couple of miles down stream for any needed supplies.  Boat Ramp.  RV Dump Station.  Reviewed 03/2000.
