Nevada State Parks - Fort Churchill State Park

Click to Locate Carson River Ranches on an Area MapSamuel Buckland Campground (commonly known as Fort Churchill Campground) is located in Fort Churchill State Historic Park, 10 miles south of the community of Silver Springs not far off US Highway Alternate 95.

The camp is located just beyond the ruins of old Fort Churchill near the Carson River under big and shady Cottonwood trees.  Campsites are quiet, pretty and private.  The campground is set up in one big loop along a good gravel road.  Each site has a picnic table, fire pit (with flip over BBQ grill) and water spigots nearby.  Site #20 is a Handicap Accessible site.  Between Sites #1 and #2 is a Walk-In/Bike-In site...which is not available for car camping.  A lot of RV's camp here.  At the most recent review, sites were impeccably cleaned and groomed by the camp host.

Fishing is possible in the nearby Carson River (but consumption is not allowed).  The Fort Churchill ruins are neat to explore with a self-guiding interpretive trail.  There is also a museum building at the entrance.  RV Dump Station located near the entrance.  Reviewed 02/2000, 08/2005.
