Illipah
Reservoir Campground
Bureau of Land
Management - Ely Field Office
Illipah Reservoir is located 40 miles west of Ely on US
50. Access to the camp is down a good 2 mile gravel road
(signed from the highway). The road is 2WD accessible.
Campsites
are located in two loops. The North loop is located in a
protected gully. The South loop is perched on a bluff
overlooking Illipah Reservoir. The South loop campsites
have better views but are more exposed. All the sites
are in the open with no shade. There is a piñon/juniper
forest on the other side of the lake, but none here.
Each site is equipped with a wind break, picnic table and a
fire pit with a flip over grill.
The lake
and mountain views are quite pretty, but I imagine if there
was no breeze and in the scorching summer sun it could get
quite hot here. Fishing is quite popular. Reviewed 06/01.
