An aspen grove along Lehman Creek

Upper Lehman Creek Campground
National Park Service - Great Basin National Park

Upper Lehman camp is located a few miles up the Wheeler Peak Scenic Road, a short distance from the Park Entrance, just upstream from the Lower Lehman camp.

The campground is laid in two sections, the lower section (Sites 1-16) and the upper section (sites 17-24).  The upper section may not be open early and late in the season.

The lower section is in a moderately dense forest of spruce and aspen.  The upper section is more densely forested and more attractive looking.  One site in the upper section requires you to cross a small bridge to the campsite.  Quite cool.  There is a trail that heads out of the upper section that travels up Lehman Creek Canyon to the Wheeler Peak Campground.  It's a beautiful trip, but straight uphill.

Upper Lehman is the most popular low elevation camp at Great Basin National Park.  Expect company.  But this is the place to stay at lower elevations in the Main Park Complex.  Reviewed SEP98, JUL03.
