Hope Valley Campground is located on the edge of the large Hope Valley Meadow on the paved road to Blue Lakes, less than a 1/4 mile from California Highway 88. The adjacent meadow is quite lovely and frames wonderful vistas of the surrounding topography.
Although access to the campground is completely paved, the campground itself is not. So it can get quite dusty. There are three loops that house the 20 sites. Sites are averagley spaced apart with moderately dense forest providing good shade. There is also one group site. There is a Campground Host in the camp, but they may not be present early and late in the season. They typically sell firewood.
The Forest Service has recently replaced the bathrooms. The new privies were very clean upon the last inspection. The drive to Blue Lakes is pretty if you should venture south. There is also fishing nearby in the Carson River. This campground is pretty popular, so expect ample company on weekends in season.
Visited August 1998 and June 2008.
