Camping Guide Nevada has not visited Emerson Campground. CGN attempted to make it up to Emerson after one of those freak summer thunderstorms. Halfway up the road turned to horrible mud, but we kept trying to get up (was afraid to stop, thought my Subaru might get stuck). 90% of the way up it got so bad I had to turn around or I was going to get stuck. My apologies to the National Forest Service for tearing up their road. I will make it up one day and review it. The Modoc National Forest offers this description: Emerson campground is the perfect place for an afternoon of fishing with your family or the perfect place for getting away from everyday stresses. You can see the fish jumping out of the clear, blue water. 1 hour from Alturas via Highway 299 to Cedarville. Turn right on Main St. (Co. Road #1) and follow to one mile south of Eagleville. Follow FS signs to Emerson Campground on a high clearance dirt road. The nearest food, gasoline, and restaurant are located in the town of Eagelville and Cedarville, California. The nearest 24 hour services are located in Alturas, CA.
