Pepperdine Campground is located in the Warner Mountain Range along a fair forest road that connects Alturas and Cedarville, California. This area is pretty remote and not heavily visited. This camp is the one that made me to take up the Outdoors as a hobby, or should I say a lifestyle (I used to be kind of urban).
The campground is remote and very quiet. Sites are pretty well shaded with pine trees. They're not really very far apart, nor private, but there are very few visitors here. So no big deal, really. There is a large open meadow on the north side. Deer came right down into the meadow in front of our campsite in the middle of the night. You can look out off the ridge to the east and see the arid mountains of Nevada. But it's not arid here.
Pepperdine camp is small and simple. One loop, one vault toilet. There is a corral and staging area for pack animals near the entrance. You can hike out of camp right into the South Warner Wilderness. Reviewed 05/1997.
