Cathedral Gorge Campground is located in in the bottom of the exceptionally scenic Cathedral Gulch Wash in Cathedral Gorge State Park. Cathedral Gorge is a wide shallow canyon with spectacular tan, pink and red walls.

Access is completely paved from Panaca, Nevada via U.S. Highway 93 and Cathedral Gorge Park Road. The camp is set back in the draw, only two miles from the highway, so it is very convenient for passers by.

This campground is laid out on one simple gravel loop in the desert bottoms. Most sites are clustered close together, so privacy between sites is not very good. The sites facing the road have great views across the gorge toward Cathedral Caves and Millers Point. However all sites have fair to fantastic views of the surrounding gorge. The Park has planted many olive trees around the camp. These do provide a fair amount of shade in the summer, but lose their leaves in September.

Each site has a shade ramada, picnic table, and fire ring with a flip over BBQ grill. There is only one bathroom building at the north end of the camp. The farthest sites are a decent walk. The bathrooms contain flush toilets and showers. There is a firewood kiosk near the camp entrance and it costs $4 per arm full.

During the last inspection in October 2009, there were no handicap accessible sites. However sites are very level and would be pretty accommodating. Site #16 is the only pull through site. A group site is available across the road. It can accommodate large groups and has it's own flush toilets.

In the back of the campground near the bathrooms is an amphitheater to host your own group discussions or occasional ranger lead activities. There is a raised hill in the center of camp with park benches where you can take in the 360 degree view around Cathedral Gorge. I can imagine a well timed sunrise or sunset from up here. Also there are trails out of camp to the Juniper Draw loop, over to Miller's Point and over to Cathedral Caves.

Services and facilities are available in Panaca about 3 miles away. RV Dump Station is available in Cathedral Gorge State Park.
