Meadow Valley is a free BLM campground located in a side wash of the very scenic Eagle Valley Canyon.
It is located directly off Highway 322 about 14 miles east of Pioche, Nevada. Access is completely paved, and the drive here is very pleasant. The views and photography can be very dramatic around these cliffs.
This campground is laid out quite hap-hazardly in a steep canyon. There is one turn around. The drive in is quite rough and the back sites are not really suitable for passenger cars, except for perhaps more durable Subaru types. There is one vault toilet in the center of the campground. There is an overflow camping area across the road should the camp be full or if you don't want to bring your car up the rough road.
Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Some have flip over BBQ grills in their fire rings. The overflow sites across the highway only have primitice fire rings. Sites #1 through #4 have parking directly at the camp site. Sites #A, #B and #C are across the wash and require walking in. Though less convenient, these are nicer sites. The Shade Factor of 4 is because the canyon walls are quite steep in the area and the camp is in the shade at the hottest part of the day.
Spring Valley State Park is just over a mile farther up the canyon. Here you can fish and hike. Most people camping here are escaping the crowds from Spring Valley or because Spring Valley is full. You can fish directly behind the Overflow Camping area in Meadow Valley Wash too, so you don't have to go up to the reservoir.
Eagle Valley Resort is a couple of miles south off Highway 322 where you can obtain limited supplies. More services and facilities are available in Pioche about 14 miles away. RV Dump Station is available up in Spring Valley State Park.
Visited March 2000 and October 2009.
