Davis Creek Campground
Washoe County Parks & Recreation - Davis Creek Regional Park
Longitude -119.83932, Latitude 39.30811

Click to Locate Davis Creek Campground on an Area Map Davis Creek Campground is located in the foothills of the Carson Range (an off-shoot of the Sierra Nevada Range) in Washoe Valley.

The campground is set in it's namesake, the Davis Creek Regional Park, and is approximately 20 minutes south of Reno and 10 minutes north of Carson City, not far from the US 395/I-580 Freeway at the Bowers Mansion Road intersection.

The Davis Creek Campground is located just inside the tree line. The campground is broken into two zones, front and rear. Neither one of them is necessarily prettier, but the rear one seems to be less crowded. The front zone has some RV Pull-Through sites. Please note that some places are tight for larger RV's...may take a lot of negotiating to get through and parked.

Most sites are quite shady in a dense stand of jeffrey pine. Only a small handful are cursed with direct sunshine (although these would be better outside Summer). All the drives throughout the camp are paved in asphalt. Each site has a fire ring, separate barbecue grill and picnic table>. There is not much fallen wood around, so bring some in.

There is a pond a 1/4 mile away in Davis Creek Park. You can fish there in Summer, or ice-skate when the pond freezes over in Winter. Additionally in the park is a trailhead for the Ophir Creek Trail. This long and pretty strenuous hike gains approx. 4,000 feet to Mt. Rose Campground in the Tahoe Meadows area. From here you can connect to the Tahoe Rim Trail. Washoe Lake State Park is only 10 minutes away on the other side of Washoe Valley.

There is no camp host outside of the summer months, but the park rangers patrol often. Reviewed 07/1998, 08/2005. Updated information from Camping Guide Nevada contributor Howard Martin 03/2007.
