Berry Creek Campground
Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest - Ely Ranger District
Longitude -114.64388, Latitude 39.34956

Click to Locate Berry Creek Campground on an Area Map The Berry Creek camp is the last of the Duck Creek area camps in the Schell Creek Range. Berry Creek is located approximately 15 miles east of McGill, accessed by the paved SR 486 (Duck Creek Road) and the fair dirt Berry Creek Road (CR 1067). This road is not advisable to low clearance vehicles.

Upon arrival it's hard to find the campground. There is no sign. There are just three sites scattered around near the fork of Berry Creek.

  • Site #1 is located below the fork. It's on a side road that parallels the creek and then crosses it. This site is nice with shade provided by a nice pocket of aspens. The creek in this location may be dry due to diversions near the forks mid to late season.

  • Site #2 is east of the fork. It's a nice grassy spot with good shade from aspen and a few spruce. This is the only site with a toilet. It's an old pit toilet with a broken door. This site is large and can accommodate a nice size group. The North Fork of Berry Creek runs good year round at this location (upstream of diversions).

  • Site #3 is located along the South Fork of Berry Creek in a dense forest of aspens. It is the prettiest site here, but the South Fork usually doesn't flow after mid-summer, or earlier after dry winters.

There are a few primitive camping sites in the canyon, including one large grassy site on the creek just east of Site #2. Although Berry Creek provides more solitude than the other Duck Creek camps, Timber Creek is the fairest of them all. There is no garbage collection here, but there are some garbage cans at the entrance of Timber Creek Road.
