• Updated Listings.  Updated the Yosemite National Park listings.  Converted the following camps to the new format and added some campsite maps: Tuolumne Meadows, Porcupine Flat, Yosemite Creek, White Wolf, Tamarack Flat, Crane Flat, Hodgdon Meadow, Bridalveil Creek, Camp 4 (Sunnyside), Lower Pines, Upper Pines, North Pines and Wawona Campgrounds.

October 2008

• New Review & Photos.  CGN Reader Simon Burgess provided a review of the Dave Deacon Campground in the Kirch Wildlife Management Area in South Central Nevada.

• Campground Comments Posted.  CGN Reader Thomas Noble provided some comments on the Hilltop Campground he visited in the Spring Mountains Recreation Area.

• Updated Listing.  Our family and my brother's family combined for a trip to Eagle Lake, California.  We stayed at the  Aspen Grove Campground and have provided an update with more photos from this visit.

• Updated Listings.  Updated the Bob Scott Campground listing in the Austin Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest.  In this listing you can click on each camera in the map and see a picture of that campsite.  Additionally a slideshow has been added.

• Updated Listings.  Updated the Frenchman's Lake Area Camps in the Plumas National Forest to the new format:  Cottonwood Springs, Frenchman, Spring Creek, Big Cove and Chilcoot.

• Updated Listings.  Updated the Lake Davis Area Camps in the Plumas National Forest to the new format:  Lightning Tree, Grasshopper Flat, Grizzly and Crocker.

• New Listing.  Added the River Camp at the Lahontan State Recreation Area in Western Nevada near Fallon.

• New Listing.  Added the Willow Creek Campground located at the Ward Charcoal Ovens State Historic Park in Eastern Nevada near Ely.

• New Listing.  Added the Dave Deacon Campground also known as Hot Creek Campground located in the Wayne E. Kirch Wildlife Management Area in Eastern Nevada outside the tiny community of Sunnyside.

• Updated Listings.  The Lassen College Foundation has provided some updated information on the following campgrounds the manage:  Aspen Grove, Bogard, Christie, Crater Lake, Eagle, Goumaz and Merrill.

• New Listing.  Added the Red Rock Canyon Campground at the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area just outside of Las Vegas.

• Updated Listings.  Updated BLM Campgrounds in the Bishop Field Office to the new format:  Goodale Creek, Horton Creek, Crowley Lake and Tuttle Creek.

• Added Listing Photos.  Thanks to sierranevadaairsteams.org we have added some listing photos that we have been sorely missing.  Check out new photos at Indian Well, Boca Rest, Boca Spring, Boyington Mill, Cedar Pass, North Eagle Lake.

• Updated Listing.  Changed the Boca Campground on Boca Reservoir to the new format, added pictures and satellite campsite map.

• New Listings.  Added new listings with photos and information from the Bureau of Land Management. Check out Ramhorn Springs, Dodge Reservoir and Goshute Canyon.

• Added Maps.  Section Maps for the areas around Las Vegas, Lake Mead, Pahrump and Laughlin have been added...including an inset for the Mount Charleston/Spring Mountains camps.

• Community Listings.  We are adding community pages giving information for each city or town including it's population, elevation, services available, weather and nearest campgrounds.  This is a work in progress.  So far we've done Mountain City, Owyhee and Tuscarora.

• Updated Listings.  Revisited the South Warner Range in the Modoc National Forest.  Updated listings for Mill Creek Falls, and Blue Lake.

• New Listing.  Added Patterson Campground in the Warner Range, Modoc National Forest.  I had missed this one in earlier visits.

• Locator Maps.  Added in the each listing (in the new format) is a Locator Map showing where in California/Nevada the Campground is located.  This was a common request of visitors who want to know where the campground is roughly located.  See an example here Fallen Leaf Campground.  Click on the Picture to see a detailed map.

• Uploaded Photos.  I came across a whole box of photos that I have never uploaded.  DOH!  I am uploading them as I have time.  Here is a running list of added photos:

  • Timber Creek, Toquima Caves, Peavine, Kalamazoo, Illipah Reservoir, Fallen Leaf, Berry Creek, Cleve Creek, Bogard, Conklin Park, Pine Creek (Tonopah).

June 2005

• Fine Tuned Format.  This camping guide is now in a friendlier, more navigable format.  Some fine tuning and graphic changes were done as well.  Things look a little more professional and modernized.  Upgrades include a Navigation Column and Updated Logos on each page.  This is a WIP (Work in Progress) and will take several months.

• Fine Tuned Listings.  Most common complaint about the campground listings was that they were too wide.  That is fixed, with some other fine tuning points like new navigation buttons and hover windows.  The new listings are cleaner and easier to read.  This also is a WIP and will take months (or maybe years) to complete.

• New Weather Channel Icons.  The Weather Channel Icons in each listing are being modified to include a more appropriate tent scene.  Another way we are going above and beyond!  LOL!
